Google Now service comes to iPhone

The Google Now service is being extended to Apple's iPhones and iPads. Until now the product - which suggests "answers before you ask" - had been limited to devices running Google's own Android operating system. Unlike the original version, Google Now only works within the firm's Search app on Apple's iOS platform - potentially limiting its appeal.

Psychosocial Course Aims to Heal Scars Caused by Libyan Conflict

IOM, in partnership with Tripoli University, has completed a six-month course for 31 Libyan health, educational and social experts on how to cope with psychological reactions in the aftermath of 2011 Libyan conflict.The “Psychosocial Responses in War-Torn Societies” programme was designed to increase knowledge and awareness of psychosocial approaches in addressing psychological and social impacts of collective violence.

Barbara Ackonor Receives Chevening/Mansion House Scholarship

Ms. Barbara Ackonor has been announced as the 2013/14 Chevening-Mansion House Scholar. She will receive a scholarship worth £23,000 which is jointly funded by Chevening (£15,400) and Mansion House (£7,500) to study an MSc in Finance at Durham University. Mansion House Scholarships are awarded by the Lord Mayor of the City of London in some of the countries he visits each year, in his primary role of promoting the UK Financial Services Sector and the City of London in particular.

Life for the Living Medical and Humanitarian Centre (LILIMED), has organised a post-surgery appraisal clinic at Godokpe near Ho for 49 cured lepers.Cured lepers have been beneficiaries of free eye surgeries under the auspices of the centre's within the past two years.

Ghana gets First E-health Online Service

E-health initiative, an electronic health delivery system, was launched on Friday to enable doctors reach their patients online and bring health care to the door steps of the citizenry. The E-health initiative, a remote doctor/patient interface allows a patient to see a doctor without leaving his home or office. It does not seek to prevent patients from visiting hospital but to augment existing health care delivery services.

Ghana's Grace Amey-Obeng, one of West Africa's most successful businesswomen, made her fortune promoting products which emphasised the beauty of the black skin, at a time when many of her competitors were selling dangerous skin-bleaching formulas.
